dont have to travel to a California salon for Hollywood-sized
Eyelash extensions, the newest beauty craze,
are available in Reno.
Wendy Jones renovated a Victorian house
at 970 W. Seventh St., off Keystone Avenue, and moved in her booming
business, The Eyelash Connection. Jones started offering eyelash
extensions about a year ago and has expanded her services to clients.
For an initial visit of $149 and follow-ups
every few weeks at $35, The Eyelash Connection technicians apply
fake eyelashes one by one. And these arent your moms
generation of fake lashes, where a strip of lashes are applied above
the lash-line. The synthetic extensions are affixed using tweezers
and adhesive. The lashes, sometimes up to 30 per eye, are applied
next to real ones and fall out naturally as real eyelashes do. The
first appointment takes 90 minutes.
The procedure in some California salons
costs $200 or more, so having it available in Northern Nevada for
a good price is why the business is successful, Jones says.
People are hearing more and more about
us each day, says Jones, who added that the salon averages
35 appointments a day for the semipermanent procedure. Its
another option for people looking for something to enhance their
look. We have teens coming in for it and women in their 80s who
dont have many natural lashes left. Its just an easy
way to improve your look without going under the knife. For
