Beat the heat, sun, and dry desert climate with hot new lotions, creams, and potions to protect and saturate your skin.

Is your skin feeling parched? Annet King, worldwide training and development manager for the International Dermal Institute, says dry climates make the skin more dehydrated.

“Water just instantly evaporates out of the skin if it’s not locked in, so it’s hydrate, hydrate, hydrate -the entire body,” she says. “High altitudes add to this and eyes and lip areas will become especially dry.”

Her top tips for saving your skin this summer:

1. Pack a sunscreen SPF 15-30 and apply liberally every two hours.

2. Use a thicker, more emollient oil-based face cream, eye cream, and body moisturizer if you’re in the mountains.

3. In the desert, carry a hydrating spritz with you and continue to use it throughout the day.

“I’d add in a hydrating moisture-rich vitamin masque to stop my skin from being parched,” she says. “You could even and put it on the ends of your hair.”

4. Hands and lips will feel dry too, so pack a moisture-rich hand cream that has a built-in SPF and a lip protector.
