MUSEUMS

NATIONAL AUTOMOBILE MUSEUM
10 S. Lake St. Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. 333-9300. Cost: $8, $7 seniors, $3 ages 6-18, and free museum members and children 5 and younger. Family memberships are $55. The museum features 200 antique, classic, special interest, and one-of-a-kind vehicles, vintage clothing, and art displays.

• DeSotos, Dames & Dudes: Divorce Reno-Style. Through Oct. 3. Divorcees from all over the country traveled by trains, planes, and automobiles to “take the cure,” as divorce was known in Reno.

• This Time It’s Hudson. May 9 to Sept. 26. Hudso•Motor Car Co. cars introduced features that were the first to appear in the automobile industry.

NEVADA MUSEUM OF ART
160 W. Liberty St. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays. 329-3333. www.nevadaart.org. Cost: $10, $8 seniors and students. Docent guided tours begin at 2 p.m. Saturday.

• Maxfield Parrish: Master of Make Believe. Through June 26. This major retrospective highlights Parrish’s career. The exhibition features 70 works of superlative design and beauty, including Parrish’s calendar and book illustrations, as well as his classicized paintings and a selection of large-scale murals.

• Amy Globus: electric sheep. Through May 8. Viewers can enjoy an unusual audio-visual experience as they watch a video of an octopus make its way through glass tubing.

• Marco Brambilla: Superstar. Through May 15. This video installation depicts a man free-falling amidst high-rise buildings.

• Nevada Now: The Visual Artists Fellowship Award Exhibition. Through May 29. This is an exhibition of 15 artists who participated in the Nevada Arts Council fellowship program from 1988 through 2003.

• Darius Kuzmickas: Pinhole Camera Photographs. Through July 31. This selection of black-and-white photographs was taken using the pinhole photography technique.

• Throat: Installation by Jim Zlokovich and Joe Zuccarini. May 22 through Aug. 1. Cloudscapes in various stages of light and movement will cover the walls and surround a single sculpture in the media gallery.

ARTISTS CO-OP OF RENO ART GALLERY

May: Works of Mary Chadwell and Harriet Uhalde. Chadwell makes miniatures and large paintings with collages, oils, and watercolors. Uhalde paints with a knife to create sweeping landscapes. June: East Fork Exchange.

GALLERY CUI-UI
290 California Ave. Hours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. Open first Thursdays of the month until 7:30 p.m. 329-3698. Features local jewelry artists, including contemporary sterling silver jewelry by co-owner Ann E. Fullerton.

GALLERY 516
516 S. Virginia St. Hours: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and by appointment. 333-0900. The artwork of owner Ron Oden is featured. May and June: Alabaster and marble sculpture of John Rosa, watercolor linolium and block print of Judy Mough, and modular form paintings by LaVern Theis.

NEVADA STATE HISTORICAL SOCIETY

May through September: Wally’s World: The Loneliest Art Collection in Nevada features works by important Nevada artists collected by Eureka Opera House director Wally Cuchine.

NEVER ENDER STORE AND GALLERY
350 W. Liberty St. Hours: Open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Opening May 9 and 14: a show featuring recent work from local students in all mediums.
